Following the recent civil unrest in Egypt which has manifested itself in sometimes violent demonstrations, The FCO (Government department “The Foreign & Commonwealth Office”) has issued a travel warning for certain parts of Egypt.

At the time of writing (29th Jan 2011) the only affected destinations in Egypt are Cairo, Suez, Alexandria and Luxor. Of which Luxor and Cairo have the most UK tourists with exisiting bookings. The Red Sea resorts such as Sharm el-Sheikh, El Gouna, Marsa Alam and Hurgharda have not so far seen any widespread protests or disruption to services. The protests do mean however that all excursions to Cairo and Luxor from the Red Sea resorts have been cancelled by UK tour operators.
